I've begun using mixed media in my jewelry and love it! I sense some assemblage art in my future.:)
This is a leather-bound minibook with Tim Holtz papers and a quote inside by Pablo Neruda. Below are all the pages.
Here are the other pieces I made to go with it:
The next set came about because I wanted to try making Cynthia Thornton's resin wings with some kind of glue instead. As it turned out, Glossy Accents and Diamond Glaze both work very well. A little Pearl-Ex powder adds more depth of color. I added crinkled ribbon to these as well.
And here's a set of bottle cap jewelry. I was looking for an easier way than resin, especially since I am teaching classes now and need something quick and simple so students can walk out with finished pieces in two or three hours.
Below are some of last year's pieces. Lucite flowers are a favorite medium. Also, an older friend has been giving me bags of beads, costume jewelry, hand-dyed seam tape, tapestry wools, and some buttons and fabrics. Each one is like a little treasure chest. These are some of the pieces I have made with them. The green set was my first foray into making and hammering shapes into leaves and dragonflies - but it won't be my last. I love it! It took hours to cut all these great beads off corroded metal links, but it was worth it. :)
